TRISTAN'S BIO
Tristan Clark, originally from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada started playing guitar at the age of 11. In 2001, he relocated to Toronto and completed his degree in Jazz Performance at Humber College in 2005. In 2014, Tristan moved to New York City to further pursue his career in the music industry. Currently, Tristan teaches guitar lessons for New York University’s Music and Performing Arts Department.
Tristan has studied with some of Canada and USA’s guitar greats such as Pat Coleman, Ted Quinlin, and David Occupinti. He has been fortunate enough to play with jazz legends such as Dave Holland, Oliver Jones, and Dave Young as well as pop icons including Jacksoul, Jully Black, Dione Taylor, Divine Brown, Sean Lennon and Esthero (along side the Toronto Symphony Orchestra). He has opened up for world-class acts such as Oscar Peterson, Al Green, and Bettye Levette. He has also toured North America and recorded with Toronto’s alt-country group New Country Rehab.
Tristan has been teaching guitar for 18 years to students of all ages and skill levels in various settings: private lessons, group lessons, international workshops (Guitar Workshop Plus), lesson centers and post-secondary institutions. He teaches all genres of guitar including rock, blues, RnB, jazz, funk, pop and country.
